Chrysostomos (Kavouridis) ex-Metropolitan of Florina Metrop. Chrysostomos was born in the village Madeta of Thrace at 1870 from the devout parents Georgios and Melpomeni Kavouridis. Afterwards in the High school he subscribed in the Theological Faculty of Halkis, which he excel. Ordained Deacon and priest from Patriarch Joakeim the III and he was appointed Preacher to Panormos. At 1908 he was ordained Bishop of Imbros and named in the Metropolis of Pelagonia. Besides the belligerent situation in his region, he remained steadfast in his place helping his flock. Because of political and diplomatic situations he was persecuted and resided in Mount Athos. The election of Meletios Metaxakis in the Patriarchal throne of Constantinople forced him to abandon Mount Athos and to reside in Athens. The Church of Greece assigned him the locum tenens of Metropolis of Philiates and a little later he was elected Metropolitan of Florina. Then from heavy illness and because of his hospitalisation in the Hospital of Athens he resigned from his duties. At 1935, he undertakes the Ecclesiastical Administration of G.O.C. of Greece. He was exiled two times (1935 and 1951) for his confession beliefs. He returned to the Patriarchates trying to convince the Patriarchs for a resolution of the calendar subject. At, 7th of September of 1955, he migrated to the Lord. |

Metropolitan Chrysostomos (Mavromatis) of Dimitriados He was born in the island of Psara of Eastern Aegean around the 1860. He graduated from the High school of Chios and studied Theology in the University of Athens in which was named professor. He was ordained Deacon and priest in Athens. He was an important explainer of divine reasons and worked as a Preacher in various Metropolises until 1907 where he was ordained Bishop of Dimitriados (Magnesia). At May of 1935, he recanted the Church of Greece as schismatic and led the Church of G.O.C. of Greece. For this reason some days afterwards he was unfrocked and exiled in the island Amorgos. At 1938 he was put by the Newcalendar Church in trial for "usurpation of authority", where it was also found not guilty. At 1943 he comes in disagreement with the ex-Metrop of Florina Chrysostomos and one year afterwards almost died. The opinions are differing for the end of Metropolitan Germanos of Dimitriados. Few say that before his death, he made assertion of penitence to the Newcalendar Church, for this entomb with archieratical prices in the cathedral of Athens. Other again deny the above and say that the Newcalendarists propagate this celebrity that he returned to them, so that they may disappoint the faithful of G.O.C. For this reason they made his funeral as a canonical Bishop of their Hierarchy. |

Bishop Germanos Varikopoulos of Cyclades Bishop Germanos of Cyclades was born in Piraeus at 1864. He took a degree of Theology from the University of Athens and declared Professor of the university. He was ordained deacon and presbyter from the Metropolitan Theklitos of Athens (Minopoulos) and served in temples of Piraeus. He was distinguished for his morality and spirituality some much as to become the confessor of Queen Olga. At 1909, he was appointed as Hieratical director in Marseilles. The change of the calendar found him as the vicar of the holy temple of Saint Alexandros –Paleo Faliro- Piraeus. The words he said when the calendar changed are still remembered. At the end of the Holy mass, when the saint of the day is mentioned, the memorable Archimandrite shouted “...and of the saints of the last 13 days which as it is known the celebration have been stopped”. He never dismayed not even for one moment to fight against the innovation of the Church. At 1935, he united with the archpriests of the G.O.C and ordained Bishop. He was put in jail, exiled and vituperated many times for his Orthodox belief. During the splitting of the Archpriests of G.O.C., he was united with the Bishop Mattheos of Vresthenis. When he understood the anticanonical views of Mattheos advisers and he distinguished his position by not taking part in the ordains, and by returning to the canonical church of the G.O.C. under the presidency of ex- Florinis. Chrysostomos. Under the hunting of the Archbishop Spiridonas Vlahos he was hidden in the houses of the faithful. There at 24th of March of 1951 he suffered a cerebral accident and was transferred to the hospital in which he died. He was buried with out a priest by the order of the newcalendar Archbishop. The memorable Bishop Germanos was the most loved Bishop of the Synod of the G.O.C. From all the hierarchs of his days he had ordained the most. |

Archim. Ilarios Ouzounis (Ouzounopoulos) The memorable fr.Ilarios Ouzounis was born in Chalkidiki at 1890. His popular name was Ioannis, and he was the first born child of the ten childs that his parents Nikolaos and Maria had. At the age of 20 he abandoned his country and went to the Mount Athos to avoid to join the Turkish army (that area at the time was under Turkish occupation) and to be found in the place of fighting coreligionist and his fellow countrymen. In the Mount Athos he joined the Lavrian cell of Constantinos and Helenis .At 1925 he was ordained deacon and at 1922 priest. With the change of the calendar he joined the “Holy association of the Zealots Holy Mount Fathers” and after a while he abandoned the Mount Athos being invited by the G.O.C in the pursuit of serving the needs of the people. He served in a lot of departments in all over Greece. He was condemned, imprisoned and exiled a lot of times for his persistence in the Paternal Devoutness. At 1939, he founded the Holy Monastery of Sikanimo Oropou-Attica. He died at 21st of September of 1960. |

Archbishop G.O.C. Akakios (Papas) The memorable Archbishop and primate of the G.O.C Akakios (Papas) - for the world Athanasios – was born in Desfina Parnassidas at 1888. At 1904 he left the common life and went to the Mount Athos, in which he become a monk in the skete of Iviron. At 1914 he was ordained deacon from the bishop Timotheos of Gaggron, at 1914 he was ordained presbyter from the Bishop Paisios of Nissis and at 1920 he became Prime Monk. After the change of the calendar he was invited from the community of the G.O.C to serve the faithful. At 1936 he became an Archimandrite by the Bishop Christophoros of Megaridos. He was exiled two times for his persistence in the paternal heortology at 1932 and at 1951. At 1939 he founded the H.Monastery of Saint Nikolaos –Peanias, Attica. After the death of the ex- Florinis Chrysostomos (Kavouridis), he took over the presidency of the Commanding committee of the G.O.C .At December of 1960, he was ordained in the U.States from the Russian Bishops of Abroad, Bishop of Talantiou and at June of 1962 with the Russian Bishop Leontio of Chiles, he ordained bishops thus creating the Holy Synod of the G.O.C of Greece. He took interest in writing books and Holy Masses. He died at the December of 1963. |

Archim. Iakovos Papadelis The, of blessed memory, Archimandrite fr.Iakovos –in the world-Alexandros-Papadelis was born at 1920 in Mitilini. Since he was a child he had divine zeal so he happen to be under the protection of the Metropolitan Kirilos. He served in the army and he was given honorary for his services the rank of captain. When he was discharged from the army he went to Mount Athos and at 1949 he became Prime Monk in the H.Monastery of Grigoriou, changing his name to Haralambos. After some years he went to Jerusalem where he resided. At 1959 he was ordained deacon and took the name Iakovos and after some days he was ordain presbyter. At 1962 for reasons of faith he abandoned Jerusalem and joined the Church of G.O.C of Greece in which he was ordained from the Archbishop Akakios Archimandrite and spiritual guide. He was a creative cleric. Wherever he served he left large labor. He renovated and built many temples. Main work of his are the Holy Temple of Saint Irini Hrisovalantou of Thessalonica, the H.Monastery of Pantanassas and the H.Temple of Saint Fanourios of Serres. He died at 27th of July 1990, during the celebration of Saint Irini Hrisovalantou. |

Archbishop of G.O.C Afxentios of Athens and all of Greece (Pastras) The unforgettable Premier of the G.O.C Afxentios -in the world Constantinos- Pastras, was the most suffered of the clerics of the G.O.C during the modern history, whom was fought from outside and inside enemies of the church. He was born at 1912 in the Saints Theodorous Magnisias and in a young age he became a monk in the H.Monastery of Metamorphosis Kouvara of Attica. At 1938 he was ordained deacon and presbyter by the Bishop Mattheos of Vresthenis. Because of the anticanonycal ordains of bishops at 1949, he abandoned the parataxis of Bishop Mattheos and joined the one under the ex- Florinis Chrysostomos. He served as a vicar in many sub-departments in Greece and abroad. At 1962, he was ordained Bishop of Gardikiou by the Archbishop of the Russians of Abroad Leontio and the Bishop Akakio of Atalantiou. At 1962 he succeeded the deceased Archbishop Akakio (Papa). He founded the Holy Monasteries of Saint Ioannis the Theologist in Petroupoli of Attica and the Ascension of Christ in Kapandriti of Attica. During the primateship of his the Church of G.O.C received many benefactor decisions from the state. At 1985, members of the Synod unfrocked him seduced by his malevolent enemies. He died Lord at 4th (O.S) of November of 1994. At 1997 the Holy Synod, re-examined the unfrock decision to him and restored him after he declared mistrial. |

Metropolitan Gerontios of Piraeus and Salaminas (Mariolis) The memorable Metropolitan Gerontios –known in the world as Georgios- Mariolis was born in Piraeus at 1921. At 1936, because of his love the life of the monks, he left without his parents’ knowledge and went to Mount Athos and submitted his self to the Timiou Prodromou the skete of Holy Annas. After eight months he was arrested from the police because he was under age and he was guided back to his home in Piraeus. His parents tried everything to convince him to forget the idea of the monastic life but young Georgios run away secretly again and went to Mount Athos. Because he did not have any money during the way (around 700 km) he did it by foot walking for a month. Again although he got arrested from the police and he was brought back to Piraeus. Since he was unfrocked from the monk scheme he served his military service and at 1942 he was ordained deacon by the Bishop Germanos of Cyclades (Varikopoulos), renamed to Grigorios. He was ordained presbyter at 1943 at which he received the name Gerontios. He served in a lot of temples of Greece and at 1945 he became confessor and Archimandrite from the Bishop Germanos (Varikopoulos). At 1948 he received the Grant Angelic Scheme. The same year he was unfrocked and again he was called to the army to after-train. At 1950 he founded the H.Monastery of Saint Athanasios Athonitou in Megara of Attica. At 1962 he was ordained Bishop of Salamina from the Archbishop Akakio and his Synod. At 1972 he became Metropolitan of Piraeus and Salamina. He died at 13th of November 1994. |

Archimandrite Amvrosios Fontrie Archim. Fr. Amvrosios –in the world, known as Achilles- Fontrie, he was of Greek-French origin and was born in Smirni of Asia Minor at 1917. With the occupation of Smirni from the Turks was forced to abandon his birthplace with his family as refugees and to reside in southern France. At 1942 he became a monk and ordained deacon and presbyter by the Metropolitan of the Russians Abroad Evlogios. For many years he served his parish at Marseilles in which he became archimandrite. His activity and spirituality that distinguished him signify him as a missionary. He traveled all over France and he constituted Orthodox Temples. Because he knew fluent Greek and French language, he translated and published many Holy Paternal scripts. Fr Amvrosios with his company joined the Church of G.O.C. of Greece around 1982. He died at January 1st of 1992. |

Bishop ex-Soutsava Kosmas (Lastoun) Bishop Kosmas (Lastoun) was born at 1930 in the village of Dornelor of Northern Romania. From his youth he was distinguished for his zeal and followed Saint Glikerios, and founded the Holy Monastery of Transfiguration of the Saviour in Slatioara of Moldavia. At 1956 he was ordained priest and became Abbot of the Monastery. At 1977 he was ordained Bishop. From 1985 until 1989 he was put in suspension from the then regime of Romania. After the death of Saint Glikerios because of the loosening of the ecclesiastical measures of the Romanian Hierarchy of the G.O.C. he stopped communion with them and he was limited in his birthplace, founding a new monastery and seeking to join the Orthodox Church outside of Romania. At 2000, after a request of his to the Holy Synod of the Church of G.O.C of Greece under the president Metr. Kallinikos of Fthiotida, he was accepted by them as ex-Metropolitan because of his paralysis after a cerebral incident. He died at 17th February 2001. |
