August 2008 = Recruitment of Priests
After a petition to the Exarch of Balkan countries Metropolitan Bishop Christoforos, the Priests Fr. Lyudmil Petrov and the Deacon Fr. Marian Angelov from Bulgaria have been recruited. The now joined priests originate from the jurisdiction of the independent Bishop Gregory of Colorado whom they had denounced before months. Their Hirothesia has been made in Greece on 4 August 2008.
July 2008 = Deposition of Priests
The Bulgarian Priests Zahariev Nikola and Lyubomir Papo have been expelled from our Church for serious Canon reasons, after the decision of the Exarch of Balkan Countries Metropolitan Bishop Christoforos.
July 2008 = What is happening? - the same as always!
The Colorado party doesn’t seem to calm down. We had decided not to deal with them them anymore, since we have found out that no one else does. But, unfortunately, we can’t stand the temptation of the challenge from their part.
They have promulgated the conversation they had with His Beatitude Archbishop Makarios from whom, as they try to prove unsuccessfully, they have taken the consent and participation in the receiving of an Archpriest. Since the only thing proven in this conversation is the elicitation of His Beatitude Archbishop Makarios’ opinion on the subject, we ask the Coloradians to allow us to promulgate also the recorded conversation, so as to prove to the visitors of our Webpage thoroughly what we have made known until now, that His Beatitude Archbishop Makarios wasn’t mixed up actively in the case of Amvrosios.
Like it can be understood by anyone, the question on behalf of the Coloradians was, until the last moment, “what is your opinion…”, an evidence that His Beatitude Archbishop Makarios always expressed his opinion. Finally, we have learned from an unofficial information that His Beatitude Archbishop Makarios is thinking about to file a suit against those who talked with Him and recorded the conversation.
Given that the phone-tapping is considered a criminal act from the Greek Justice, in case His Beatitude Archbishop Makarios takes this step, those who committed the phone-tapping will be arrested immediately upon their arrival in Greece.
We would like to remind you, also, the published letter of our Archbishop Makarios concerning the matter here.
On June 4/17 a Synod was convened, which dealt with current matters. The Holy Synod ceases its tasks during the summer and it will hold a session again in September. During the last session, a letter towards the leaders of government and politicians was signed by all the Archpriests, making the request for the faithful who bring out reasons of conscience to be exempted from acquiring the electronic cards.
April 2008 = Ordination of Priest.
On April 20 the Deacon Niphon, monk of the Holy Monastery of Saint Panteleimon in Patra, was ordained to the rank of Presbyter during the feast of Saint Athanasios of Meteoritou. The ordination was performed by His Beatitude Archbishop Makarios, who had ordained fr.Niphon a Deacon last January.
May 2008 = Accession of a church.
The Holy Church of Timiou Prodromou in the town of Volos has acceded to our Holy Synod, coming from the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Bishop of Larisa Athanasios. The Archimandrite Nikiphoros Nassos was appointed as the Parish Priest of the Holy Temple.
March 2008 = Ordination of Priest.
It was known to us that His Reverence of Olympos has proceeded to the ordination of the Priest Fr.Stephanos Usachev from the region of Penza in central Russia. In addition, besides the small community that was created in Moscow, one more community was created in the region of the Urals.
February 2008 = Persecution of the G.O.C. in Russia
We have been informed that government agencies of "democratic" Russia have not forgotten the old methods of oppressing religious freedom. In the village of Novaya Tolkovka, Penza region of central Russia, the hieromonk, Fr. Stefan Usachev, has endured particularly cruel attacks by Moscow Patriarchate clergy with the collusion of government agencies. After Father Stefan was led before the public prosecutor without any results, the village chairman then ordered the gas cut off to Father Stefan with the explanation that he did not belong to the Moscow Patriarchate, hoping thereby that inclement weather would compel Father Stefan to either submit to the regional patriarchal bishop or die. After all this we have nothing to say other than for Father Stefan to have patience.
January 2008 = Orthodoxon Paterikon Salpisma - "The Orthodox Patristic Trumpet-call"
After our petition from the archives of the Sacred Synod the official magazine of our Church Orthodoxon Paterikon Salpisma [in Greek] was granted to us for publication. Because of space we begin from 2004 and will continue with each issue. We hope that this will contribute to the information of our readers. Click here to open the relevant web page.
January 2008 = The Passage of the Newcalendarist Archbishop of Greece Christodoulos
After months of illness the New Calendarist Archbishop of Athens, Christodoulos, died on January 15/28, 2008, at the age of 69. He was popular enough but disappointed the Orthodox population many times due to his pro-Papal sentiments and Ecumenist activity. We hope his successor is less "open" to the heretical West.

At the present time a pleasant event occurred in that two significant monasteries joined the Sacred Synod of our Church. The men's Sacred Monastery of St. Panteleimon which is located in Lykochoro of the Achaia prefecture, and the women's Sacred Monastery of the Panaghia Directress located in the Manolada Ileias region. The Sacred Monastery of St. Panteleimon has 8 monks with the Abbot Archimandrite Ioakeim Evangelatos while the Sacred Monastery of the Panaghia Directress has 10 nuns with the Abbess nun Markella. These two monasteries arrived from the party of Archbishop Chrysostomos Kiousis whom they renounced.
December 2007 = Priestly ordinations
This month there were ordinations in St. Petersburg, Russia to the diaconate and priesthood of the monk Fr. Stefan Usachev. And the two ordinations were performed by His Grace Bishop Nektarios of Olympus.
November 2007 = Yet again concerning Archb. Gregory of Colorado
Several days ago we published the position of our Church concerning the acceptance of a certain bishop by Archb. Gregory of Colorado. We did this after receiving inquiries from readers of our web site if our Sacred Synod actually took part in this affair. We have ascertained that supporters of Archb. Gregory have disputed our publication and more over imputed its credibility.
We emphasize:
a) That we are not an individual but a small team of young laymen who do not express our personal opinions.
b) That although our web site is unofficial that does not mean it is irresponsible.
c) We are not maliciously motivated but to the contrary have tried to be objective and multiple times have presented events concisely as in this latest affair of Archb. Gregory.
However, considering that our course was not respected by supporters of Archb. Gregory we are compelled to provide the full statement of the Press Office of the Sacred Synod in order to afford everyone the opportunity to draw their own conclusions. We regret this development and we apologize to Archb. Gregory, but the responsibility is that of his own supporters.
We were informed that some bishop Ambrose (Moran-Dolgorovky) in the USA used an encyclical he made the name of His Beatitude our Archbishop Mr. Makarios that he gave approval in order for him to unite with Abp. Gregory of Colorado. The press office of the Sacred Synod announced that our Church has nothing to do with the reported affair and naturally has neither jurisdiction nor obligation to approve acts that do not belong in her jurisdiction.
October 2007 = Dismissal of Bishop
At the October 11 session the Sacred Synod made the unpleasant decision to expel Metropolitan Athanasios of Acharnes from the hierarchy. This decision was a result of his provocative distant attitude since January, his scandalous participation in the marriage of an Athonite monk of the Great Schema and his association with schismatics. Taking into consideration his illness and advanced age the Sacred Synod decided out of leniency to apply the epitimion of expulsion.
October 2007 = Election of the Bishop of Olympu
The Sacred Synod, keeping in mind the pastoral needs of its flock abroad, decided at the October 11 session to elect a bishop for Russia. From the candidates, the Very Rev. Archimandrite Nektariy Yashunsky, rector of the Sacred Church of the Panaghia Pantanassa in St. Petersburg, was elected. The new bishop received the title of the venerable Diocese of Olympu. The consecration took place in Athens on October 12 in the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles, presided over by His Beatitude Archbishop k. Makarios, our First Hierarch, together with the other members of the Sacred Synod.
On August 2 Metropolitan Kallinikos of Phthiotis was taken to the hospital on doctor's orders. The metropolitan remained hospitalized for one week and was discharged healthy. We pray that His Eminence has a good recovery.
August 2007 = Election of the Bishop of Gardikiou
On August 18/31 at the session of the Sacred Synod took place the election of a bishop to assist Metropolitan Kallinikos of Phthiotis in his pastoral duties. The V. Rev. Archimandrite Athanasios Bafiadis, abbot of the Sacred Monastery of St. Athanasios of Meteora, was elected from the candidates. The new bishop received the title of the venerable Diocese of Gardikiou, which was also held by His Beatitude Archbishop k. Auxentios as well as by Bishop k. Anthimos. The consecration took place on August 22 in the Cathedral of St. Spyridon in Lamia, presided over by His Beatitude Archbishop k. Makarios, our First Hierarch, together with the other members of the Sacred Synod.
July 2007 = Priestly Ordination
On July 17 the Rev. Hierodeacon Alexandros Sorotos, a brother of the Sacred Monastery of St. James the Brother of the Lord, was ordained to the priesthood. The ordination took place in the Sacred Church of St. Marina, Koridallos - Peiraias. Hieromonk Alexandros was appointed rector of the Sacred Church of the Holy Unmercenaries, Eleusis.
April 2007 = Advancement of Metropolitan
During the meeting of the Holy Synod at 27th of April Bishop Vissarion of Tarsos was advanced to Metropolitan of Sydney. The enthroning of the new Metropolitan will take place in the near future.
February 2007 = Deposition from Holy Orders
On February 13/26 the first rank Synodical Court deposed from Holy Orders the following priests: Joseph Sunderland, Steven Allen, George Poullas and the deacons: Sergei Boulter, Paul Brown and John Somers after having summoned them on December 30/January 12. They are all American citizens and were given 40 days to appeal the decision. The clergymen had been summoned by Protocol 1-6/07, December 30/January 12, 2007, to appear before spiritual court and were given forty days to respond if any extension was needed. There were no replies. The Decision, Protocol 438/A'/β 071, February 14/27, 2007, was issued giving forty more days to appeal. Only one then technically contacted the spiritual court. In addition, they were contacted by Encyclical, Protocol 414/Σ 130, and by Synodical Letter, Protocol 416/Σ 131, shortly before being initially summoned.
With the proper magnificence but also devoutness took place the Holy Theophany by our Church. His Beatitude Archbishop mr.Makarios cast the Cross in the region of Old Faliron at Piraeus. The ceremony was presided by His Eminence Metropolitan mr.Christophoros, twenty Priests and hundreds of people. His Eminence Metropolitan of Fthiotida mr.Kallinikos arranged the feast in the coastal city of Stylidas, while the Metropolitan of Thessalonica mr.Efthymios in the city of Thessalonica.
January 2007 = Interruption of Communion
The Metropolitan of Avlon mr.Angelos interrupted communion with our Church after sending a letter to the Archbishop mr.Makarios. As reported on the Internet Metr. Angelos joined Metropolitan Antonio (Rosso) of the Italian Church.
January 2007 = Referral to the Synodical Court
The Priests: Joseph Sunderland, Steven Allen, George Poullas and the Deacons Paul Brown, Sergei Boulter, John Somers, all residents of America were impeached to the High Synodical Court with the charges of factionalism, machination, and contempt toward their Ecclesiastical authority. The day of the trial was arranged for the 13/26 of February 2007.
The High Synodical Court dealt with the affair of the suspended Ukrainian clergymen Seraphim and Ioannis, whom it found guilty of the accused charges and conveyed the affair to the Sacred Synod to issue the decision. The Sacred Synod taking in consideration the documents of the case deposed the clergymen and classified them in the order of monks.
December 2006 = Synodical Court
At the Meeting which took place at the 20th of December 2006 (O.S.) the Sacred Synod discussed the subject of Bishops Niphon and Arethas who apostasized from our Church last September. The Sacred Synod decided and conveyed the apostate Bishops to the Synodical Court with the charges of division, parasynagogue and blasphemy. It was decided for the suspended Bishops to remain in suspension until the conditions for a trial are fullfilled.
December 2006 = Synodical Delegate of America
The Sacred Synod named as Synodical representative in America the Reverend [panosiologiotaton] Archimandrite Nikiforos Groce, rector of the Sacred Temple of St. Menas, Florida. We congratulate Fr. Nikiforos for his rank and we wish that God will strengthen him in his new duties. For those interested Fr. Nikiforos telephone number is 305-245-0249.
August 2006 = Clarification about the Archbishop of Colorado
Many visitors of our Web page, sent us messages asking that we answer the recent information that says that the Archbishop of Colorado Gregory linked himself with our Sacred Synod. We communicated with the Arch-secretary of the Sacred Synod, Metropolitan Christoforos and we placed that particular question from which we received the following answer. The subject of a union of Abp. Gregory with our Church was closed months ago with the decision of the Sacred Synod that he was not accepted, effectively rejecting the wish of Abp. Gregory to join the ranks of our Sacred Synod. The visit of the above mentioned bishop to our country was made obviously for pilgrimage reasons. His recent presence at the paternal feast of the Sacred Monastery of Saint Athanasios - Megaron did not constitute an official visit and became after his own initiative so that he could meet His Beatitude, the Archbishop Makarios, who assured him orally of the above mentioned decision of the Sacred Synod.
July 2006 = New Churches under our Holy Synod
Two more churches were added to our Holy Synod. One of them is dedicated to the Saints Anargiroi and is resident at the town of Elefsina (20km outside of Athens). This church used to be under the juristiction of Archbishop Chrysostom Kiousis and after a time of being self-regulating was added to the canonical Synod of the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece. Priest to the Church was assigned Archim. Fr. Nikiforos Nassos.
The other temple is at the town of Nikaia inside the territory of Athens and it is dedicated to the annunciation of Theotokos (also known as Evagelistria-Karahaliou). The last year was under a separate ecclesiastical jurisdiction until it was recently added to our Church. This Church is temporary serviced from various priests.

The privately owned Church of Saint Marina, which resides at the island of Salamina, had defected. As we were informed, a controversy had erupted between the owners of the Church and the Priests that were doing service at the church, because the Priests were not accepting to give Holy Communion to the newcalendarists which were coming in the Church. Thus, the Church was abandoned from being serviced from our Priests and the owners found acceptance from the Synod of the Archbishop Chrysostom Kiousis into which the joined.

During the last time our Church was enriched with two new clerics.
At the 18th of May, the feast of the Apodosis of Holy Easter was ordained at the rank of the Presbyter the Deacon Kalinikos Kelepouris. The ordaining was done by his beatitude Archbishop Makarios of Athens. The new priest was positioned at the Holy Temple of the Resurrection of Christ at Spata.
The other ordaining took place at the Holy Metropolis of Mesogea. At the feast of the Holy Monastery of Saint John Prodromos of Kouvara of Attica (24th of June), the Metropolitan of Mesogea Mr. Christoforos ordained at the rank of deacon Mr. Keomenis Kefalas. The deacon Fr. Kleomenis is going to be positioned as a priest at the area of Messinia.

Four new clerics were added at the force of our Church abroad. They are three new married clerics and one Hieromonk which they live in Italy. These clerics were from the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan of Milan Evlogios and they were accepted under the proper order of the Church from the Metropolitan of France Philaret and Exarch of the West Europe Mr. Philaret.

At 18th of May 2006 (O.S.) Archim. Kyprianos Vlahos departured to Lord. Father Kyprianos was a devout cleric and fighter of the Patrimonial Devoutness. During the last times of his life his illnes contributed in to his spiritual purification thus he delivered his soul in the hands of God. His funeral took place at the church he was servicing for the decades and his burial was made according to his wishes at the H.M. of Saint James the Brother of the Lord at Thessalonica.
The Orthodox youth wishes the Lord to rank his soul among His Saints.![]()
March 2006 = Sunday of Orthodoxy.
With briliance and reverence this year was celebrated by our church, the Sunday of Orthodoxy. The concentration took place in a hall of the luxury hotel of “Titania” at the center of Athens. The attendance of the faithful from the basin of Attica was very large and for one more time exceeded the predicted number. So, after the 600 people hall was filled up, many were those who attended the fest from the common rooms outside the hall. Main speaker was his emminence Bishop Christophoros of Mesogeas and islands who spoke with the subject of: “The Greek Orthodox testimony toward the West chalenges of our age”, while the chorodia of the H. Monastery of Panagia Kanala chanted the corresponding hymnes of the day.

March 2006 = Memorial offering.
A memorial offering was published, for the holifying of the Holy Myrrh that took place at 2004 from the Holy Synod. It is a deluxe version with memoirs in the meaning of the Holy Myrrh, the way it is made, the material that are being used, the preparation for the ceremony and the holifying and many pictures. The limited number of copies, makes this book a collector’s item. Whoever is interested to receive it must address at the Office of the Holy Synod or at the Metropolis of our Church.

January 2006 = The Holy Epiphany.
After the statement of Metropolitan Niphon of Piraeus to the Holy Synod that he does not intend to organise the established synodical ceremony of Epiphany in Piraeus, the Holy Synod decided each Bishop to do the feast of Epiphany in his own province. Thus, His Beautitude Archbishop Makarios substituted the ill Metr. Efthimios in the port of Salonica, His Emminence Kallinikos of Fthiotida did the feast in the port of Stylida (Fthiotida), His Emminence Christophoros of Messogeas in the old port of Ambelakia (Salamina), His Emminence Niphon of Piraeus in the cathedral (Korydallos, Piraeus), His Emminence Agelos of Avlona in his Monastery (Malakassa), and His Emminence Avrossios of Filippon in the city of Drama.
December 2005 = H. Eminence Metropolitan Efthimios.
Metropolitan Efthimios undergo a scheduled operation of his leg in Salonica. The operation was successful and H. Eminence Efthimios passed the after-operation and recovery period in the Bishop’s residence where he was visited almost by all of the Archpriests and clergymen of our Church.

November 2005 = The new Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint Athanassios.
The Archimadrite Athanassios Vafeadis was elected new Abbot of the H. Monastery of Saint Athanassios the Meteoritis in Anedro of Fthiotida. As we know the H. Monastery of Saint Athanassios was founded by H. Eminence Metropolitan Kallinikos of Fthiotida which was until now the abbot of the Monastery until he resigned because of old age. The Monastery numbers 7 monks from which the current Abbot was one of the oldest. The enthronement of the new Abbot, took place at Sunday of Septuagesima.
During Holy Synod’s meeting of the month October, was also discussed the undertaking of Bulgaria’s Exarchate, a subject which had been raised by His Eminence Metropolitan Efthimios of Salonica. Holy Synod according to the agreed new region arrangement of Europe decided to unify the Balkan countries exarchates (with the exception of Greece) under his Eminence Metropolitan Christophoros, whom ceased being the Exarch of Romania and became the Exarch of Balkan countries.
September 2005 = New Synodical Period.
On Thursday, 2/15 September, began the new synodal period of our Church. After the customary Agiasmos, the Sacred Synod went to the conference hall. His Beatitude, the archbishop, in a short speech wished the members of the Sacred Synod a fine synodal period with fruitful spiritual labors. Present along with His Beatitude Makarios were also Their Eminences Kallinikos of Fthiotida, Efthimios of Thessalonica, Christoforos of Mesogeas and the representative archimandrites of Their Eminences Philaret of France, Angelos of Avlona and Ambrosios of Filippon.
September 2005 = Missionary News.
With much joy we were informed that the Sacred Synod undertook spiritual activities in Cyprus. The Sacred Synod made this decision after interest was expressed some time ago from our Cypriot brothers. The presence of our Church in Cyprus today consists of two temples and three priests. Metr. Efthimios of Thessalonica was appointed Locum Tenens of Cyprus.
September 2005 = Locum Tenets.
During the first meeting of the Sacred Synod, Metr. Efthimios of Thessalonica was relieved as Locum Tenens of Central Europe and Bulgaria. The previous positions Locum Tenens of West Europe and Central Europe become united and is appointed to his Eminence Metr. Philaret of France.
August 2005 = New appendices of our Church in Great Britain.
According to our information from the Locum Tenens of Europe, two new temples in Britain with a priest and a deacon joined our Church. Their reception was blessed by His Eminence Metr. Philaret of France.
August 2005 = Colorado scandal.
The case of the Sub deacon Nathaniel Kapner, monk of the Skete “Dormition of Theotokos” in Colorado, USA, shocked the Orthodox world. We do not make any judgement about the case since we are unfamiliar with the depth of the facts. The only thing we express is our sorrow. Because in this case the name of His Eminence Metr. Angelos of Avlona was involved we are obliged to inform our readers that Metr. Angelos stated full ignorance concerning the scenarios that implicate him with Fr. Gregory and denounced them as false.(See Documents)
July 2005 = New persecution of G.O.C.
Turmoil and anger was created in the circles of the Genuine Orthodox Christians because of the new maligned situation which has arisen. The G.O.C. of Greece after the long term fights, persecutions and extortions they have endured, had managed to enjoy their spiritual freedom and the acceptance of their holy mysteries by the state. Unfortunately, the conditions are being returning at the period of the persecutions (1950), with only difference that this days’ persecutor of G.O.C. is not the Newcalendar Church but the Synod of Chrysostom Kiousis! We don’t know what types of actions have taken place, and obviously what type of arrangements between the Synod of Kiousis and the State had happened. The results though, are that some registrar clerks have been ordered, not to put in their municipality records the mysteries of G.O.C. by questioning their validity, with the exception of those being performed by the priests of Archbishop Chrysostom Kiousis.
Naturaly the rest of G.O.C. jurisdictions started having problems. This is confirmed from the ecclesiastical jurisdictions of Matheites (of five), of Archbishop Makarios and Bishop Cyprianos, whom were found astound, after many years, in front of this unexpected situation. In the beginning, everyone, was under the impression that it was the revival of a new persecution on behalf of the Newcalendarists. When they asked for explanations from the state offices they found that the new adventures of G.O.C. were created by the G.O.C!
Anyone we asked expressed his sorrow, and in the final account they expressed the same conclusion: “The G.O.C. being persecuted by the ecumenists we understand, being persecuted by the G.O.C. is unthinkable.”
We need to underline that the G.O.C. of Greece, since almost the beginning of their contrast with the ecclesiastical innovation of the New Calendar, have been divided in several ecclesiastical jurisdictions. Many times they have united and many times divided. Never though, besides their differences and fights that had between them, any of them dared to use the state to dominate over the other.
July 2005 = Disruption in the Matwewites
As it was published in the magazine”Orthodoxos Pnoi” (Orthodox breath) of the Metropolis of Mesogeas and Lavreotikis, Metr. Kirikos stopped his ecclesiastical communion with his synod, for ecclesiastical reasons, as he expressed. Against the actions of Metr. Kirikos, the Synod (of Archb. Nikolaos) reacted immediately by rendering him forfeited of his Metropolis and by imposing him the penalty of Argia (idleness). Metr. Kirikos is followed by a small party of priests.
July 2005 = Summer Synod of Hierarchy.
At 3rd of July has taken
